When I imaged my slow dance to forever and always, I always thought I’d want a wedding larger than life. I wanted every person in the world to see me walk down the aisle, beach, road, etc. I didn’t care about who, as long as I was the center of attention. I was 5, who wouldn’t be that vapid and as deep as a kiddie pool mid-august.

Now that I’ve grown up, I found that I was only interested in having people who meant something to me at my wedding. I decided that I still wanted the pretty venue, but I also didn’t want to drown in a sea of invitations to anyone and everyone I was related to. Additionally, venues and catering companies charge by guest count.

Beginning the hunt…

I started looking at estates. I wanted a ceremony and reception in one location. It was important to me to find somewhere that could encompass a whole evening of magic, without anyone’s relatives getting horribly lost from one place to another.

I viewed a few locations, found price ranges that were too ridiculous to comprehend, and venue policies that were likewise. I tried estates, party barns, you name it. I went to one location *2 hours away* where a woman told us about her dead dogs and gruesome ways they died.

Finding the perfect spot…

Finally, I decided to view a beautiful intimate vineyard less than an hour away, but far enough to feel more luxury. Finley Creek Vineyards stole my heart. From the outside, both my soon to be mother-in-law and I were unsure. As soon as I walked in the doors, I was blown away. The venue incorporates hanging silks, chandeliers, incredible lighting capabilities, and recessed wood walls.

I immediately fell in love with the ownership at Finley’s! Finley’s is owned by a catering company based in Zionsville, who are also catering my wedding! I recommend thoroughly evaluating what you’re looking for in your wedding day. What kind of accommodations, price range, and stipulations are you willing and ready to work with?
