Building your personal style is no easy feat. It’s taken a long time for me to condense and reevaluate what pieces should come along with me on this life journey.
How it started…
Over the past year or so, I have been extremely picky about the items I choose to keep in my closet. More than ever, due to taste changes and lack of space, condensing has become a necessity. I started to pay attention to others who wore mostly staple items. I began to realize that I needed to care more about the items I can wear often and versitily, opposed to having a large quanitity.
The Catch…
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a work in progress. Everytime I look at my clothing I wonder about a few items I failed to give a new purpose. It’s not an overnight change, most defintely. However, I’d like to think it’s well worth it for your sanity and space.
Where to pick things up…
I personally love picking up items from small businesses. Boutiques are great locations to find pieces you don’t reguarly see at major retailers, but often see in social media. If you’re local to central Indiana, places like Bedazzled Boutique in Pendleton would be comparable.
Besides small businesses, I love to shop at ASOS for jeans, accessories, and dresses. ASOS is European, so the pants sizing is based on hip width and length, which results in a greater liklihood of the clothing fitting. Additonally, they provide a fit guide to show what people of similar sizes bought.
ASOS
When it comes to tops, I love Altar’d State. I typically only buy from them during a good sale or from perusing the clearance. The prices are high, so I need a deal to commit. However, they also provide an aesthetic found in social media style. They have a large array of modern boho deisgns, which speaks to me.
In Summary…
If youre interested in changing up your look, I’d highly suggest these places!
